Retrieval From Arion 5

Arion 5 is a Research Station within the Jericho Reach. It is a large facility located on the surface of a dead world. It has a total of 300,000 inhabitants, a rather large civilization for a Research Station and is the main station for research concerning the Tao Empire. Arion 5 has been home to many Tao devices over the years including weapons, suits, and even in a few instances, the Xenos themselves. They have performed countless tests on all of these subjects to attempt to further our knowledge of this threat to aid us in our dealings with them. Among the inhabitants of Arion 5 is Inquisitor Kasky. She has spent the last decade at this Research Station overlooking the research of one of the Stations newest and most important artifacts. It has recently gone missing from its heavily secured holding room. The Inquisitor explained that this particular artifact was of great importance to her research and could not afford to fall into the wrong hands. Current intel from the Inquisitor suggests that the artifact was stolen by heretical researchers. It is believed that the artifact has not left the Station but  the heretics will likely attempt to escape soon. Inquisitor Kasky has asked for the assistance of Kill Team Bravo to retrieve this artifact and insure that it is secured properly. This Research Station is the leader for all of the Tao research in the Jericho Reach. Therefore, we cannot allow it to fall to Heresy. If the Kill Team finds any instance of this, they are to purge it immediately.

Well, that played out nicely, Vulgate.

Volgate, while I appreciate your candor and willingness to aid me in this, I feel that there is little threat of a chaos invasion here, just a force of men who have lost there way, your fellow brothers should be well equipped for the purging of these heretics. I feel that it would be a waste of the imperiums resources to request your presence. You are more useful to the Emporer elsewhere.

Brothers, I shall not be using my requisition as I feel I can deal with these heretics with what I already possess. You and your fellow raptor are free to use some of my requisition for your weapons.

Battle Brothers, we have just received a report from Gideon Lorr. It seems that he has completed his investigation upon Arion 5. I shall patch it through now: "After interrogating several members in the security department and several other positions, we have pieced together the majority of the scheme set forth by Kasky and her followers. Kasky had indeed been working on the suit for ten years, and it was her most important research to date. Her assistant, Clovis, was weary of Kasky's attatchment to the project and grew suspicious of both the Inquisitor and Malikai. She sent word to the Ordo Hereticus of a possible heretical uprising at the research facility. It was upon my orders that all passage both in and out of the planet be suspended with the exception of incoming vehicles of the Inquisition. Fearing for her life, Clovis and her few close allies fled for sanctuary until my arrival. Upon hearing of the lockdown, Kasky attempted to devise a plan of escape with Malikai. Kasky had no ship large enough to transport the battlesuit to her intended destination. By calling a kill team from the Ordo Xenos, she would have a ship large enough to take her wherever she planned to make her escape. We suspect she was attempting to align herself with the Tau, more specifically, the App'el Gat'Te judging from the stealth suits that were found. We found tracks of small vehicles suspected to be Tau scout crafts around the facility that lead of into the far East where much larger tracks could be found. We suspect that Kasky was planning to meet with the Tau on planet and escape when the time was right. When the hangars were closed and the station locked down, the Tau must have fled, leaving behind the few stealth suits inside to fend for themselves. After speaking with men stationed at the security office, Malikai entered on the night of the disappearance of the suit and ordered the men to leave while he investigated classified materials in the video data. The men left as ordered and when they returned in the early hours of the morning, all of the footage of the night before was erased. We tracked the Battlesuit to the main hangar from which it was taken outside and around to the auxillary hangar, no doubt to lose your trail. It then was returned to the research room as planned to insert Kasky into the suit. The large force with her was to meet you in the halls of the Research facility to laydown cover fire and distract the kill team as Kasky made her escape in your vehicle. After the kill team split up, several of the speeders made it back much faster than Kasky expected and decided her only chance was to attempt to overwhelm you all and make an escape after the fight. It is fortunate that you were quick on your feet and your senses were ever sharp. Without your impeccable timing, Kasky would be long gone by now."

News from the Infirmary:

Brother Cliner has been in critical condition for several weeks after the Explosion on Arion 5. When he first arrived, he was severely burned from head to toe and very little improvement was shown in the first week. We thought the scarring would be permanent but miraculously, Cliner began to recover. His skin began to grow back in patches at first but as of now it would appear that his entire head and neck will regrow the skin normally without excess scarring or horrific disfiguration. We do not know for sure the extent of his scarring to the rest of his body, but for now it appears his head and shoulders will make a full recovery. We will relay more information about Cliners condition as we receive it.
